A second chance
In shelters and rescue organizations around the world, thousands of dogs and cats await a family to give them love and a home. Many were abandoned, others rescued from situations of abuse. They all deserve a second chance.
At the Didac Sanchez Foundation, we believe that animal welfare is a fundamental part of a just and compassionate society. That is why we dedicate part of our efforts to promoting responsible adoption and combating abandonment.
Why adopt
Adopting instead of buying has multiple benefits:
- You save a life: Each adoption frees up space in the shelter to rescue another animal.
- You fight irresponsible trade: You reduce the demand for breeders that prioritize profit over animal welfare.
- You find a loyal companion: Adopted animals often show extraordinary gratitude and loyalty.
- You contribute to social change: Your example inspires others to consider adoption.
Our work for animals
We develop various animal welfare initiatives:
- Rescue and shelter: We collaborate with animal shelters in Ukraine that take in abandoned dogs and cats, including the Babentsy shelter with 150 rescued dogs.
- Food and medicine distribution: We provide essential supplies to shelters with limited resources.
- Sterilization campaigns: We promote sterilization to control the population and prevent abandonment.
- Awareness: We educate about responsible pet ownership and animal rights.
Responsible adoption: a lifelong commitment
Adopting is a decision that should be taken seriously. Before taking the step, consider:
- Your lifestyle and the time you can dedicate to the animal.
- The costs of food, veterinary care, and maintenance.
- The long-term commitment (a dog can live 15 years or more).
- The specific needs of each animal (size, energy, socialization).
How to help
If you cannot adopt, there are many ways to collaborate: sponsorship, volunteering at shelters, donating food, or sharing animals looking for a home. Every gesture counts.
