Redefining old age
We live in a rapidly aging society, but that doesn't have to be a problem. Active aging is an approach that promotes the continued participation of older people in social, economic, cultural, and civic life.
At the Didac Sanchez Foundation, we work to make old age a stage of fulfillment, not marginalization. We believe that older people have much to contribute and deserve the respect and support of all of society.
The pillars of active aging
According to the World Health Organization, active aging is based on three pillars:
- Health: Maintaining physical and mental well-being through healthy habits, disease prevention, and access to quality medical care.
- Participation: Promoting social integration, volunteering, cultural activities, and lifelong learning.
- Security: Ensuring protection, dignity, and care when needed, including adequate housing and economic support.
Our programs for older people
We develop various initiatives:
- Social food assistance: We distribute food and prepare meals for older people in vulnerable situations.
- Companionship and visits: Volunteers regularly visit elderly people who live alone to combat loneliness.
- Sociocultural activities: We organize workshops, excursions, and gatherings that promote socialization and learning.
- Residential support: We collaborate with nursing homes to improve the quality of life of their residents.
Combating unwanted loneliness
Loneliness is one of the greatest enemies of well-being in old age. Many older people live isolated, without regular contact with family or friends. Our companionship programs seek to create meaningful bonds that bring joy and purpose to their lives.
Collaborate with us
You can participate as a volunteer by visiting older people, organizing activities, or simply taking the time to listen to them. Your company can transform their day.
